Frequently Asked Questions

How does the background remover work?

A small neural network runs inside your browser, finds the main subject of the photo and turns everything else transparent. Nothing is sent to a server, so it keeps working on a slow connection once the model is loaded.

What is the difference between Fast and Best quality?

Fast uses a 4 MB model and finishes in about a second, which is fine for clear subjects. Best uses a 94 MB model that handles hair, fur and busy backgrounds much better, but it downloads once and takes a few seconds per image.

Is the result full resolution?

Yes. The AI works on a reduced copy to stay fast and light on memory, then the mask is applied to your original image, so the download keeps the original size up to 12 megapixels.

Why does the first image take longer?

The browser downloads the AI model the first time you use the tool. After that it is cached by your browser and the tool starts almost instantly.

Can I fix a bad cutout?

Yes. Use the Restore brush to bring back parts that were removed by mistake and the Erase brush to remove leftover background. Undo and Reset edges are always available.
