How does blurring the background work?

A small AI model finds the main subject, and the rest of the picture is marked as background and blurred. You can adjust the selection with the brush to add or remove areas before downloading.

Why is a bit of the background still sharp?

The quick model sometimes misses thin or low-contrast edges, for example flyaway hair. Use the Brush to mark the missed background, or the Eraser to remove a spot that was selected by mistake.

Does it work for product photos and pets?

Yes. The model looks for the most prominent object, not only people, so products, pets and cars are separated from the background as well.

How strong should the blur be?

A strength around 40 to 60 gives a natural portrait look. Higher values look like a heavy bokeh and help hide cluttered rooms or street scenes behind the subject.
